This session was designed to ensure that your Graduate Profile not only captures your overall vision, but is actionable. Attendees unearthed the implications of different competency frameworks on tracking systems, community involvement, and learner outcomes.

November 7, 2023Creating High-Quality Learning Scales
To prepare members for the release of the Progress Tracker, MTC is hosting a number of events. In this session, members who are just getting started with learning scales or who are in the process of developing an existing draft discerned design elements and began to draft/revise their own.
October 26, 2023First Annual VirtualCollege Fair
A new benefit to members, MTC hosted our first virtual College Fair. Admission representatives from a wide range of higher ed institutions across the country gave learners the opportunity to meet, connect, and learn more about their institutions.
October 15-17, 2023Aurora Institute Symposium
MTC facilitated two sessions, the first focused on exploring research-based strategies for gradually redesigning grading practices. The second session, in partnership with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), focused on their work with schools testing an integration with MTC Grow to document school change efforts and improvement in school quality.
October 13-14, 2023Challenge Success Fall Conference
Patricia Russell attended and two member schools, Miss Porter's School and Pomfret School, led a session which explored their use of the MLR and legacy transcript to feature competencies and give students more agency and voice in explaining that learning as they apply to postsecondary opportunities.

Chief Program Officer Susie Bell attended the first convening of the
North Dakota Network for Personalized Learning. The convening included a select group of North Dakota schools and districts who are receiving personalized, grant-funded technical assistance to transform their educational systems to support personalized, competency-based learning for all students; it also included partner organizations that will support their efforts, including MTC.

Fort Wayne Community Schools launched
Amp Lab at Electric Works this year for 11th and 12th graders in their 5 area high schools. Learners at Amp Lab spend half of their school day engaged in project-based learning that explicitly leverages design thinking, place and space, and community partnerships. In our final member share, Director Riley Johnson shared more on this pathway design as a pathway to success for all learners.

Ryan Grady, Pilgrim’s Head of Secondary School, along with Director of Innovation Megan Holmstrom and Math Teacher Joe Concialdi, shared these shifts and how they have supported learners in the cross-curricular application of math concepts and high-level competencies.
